Fred Astaire Dwarfed by the Forest by Robert Hofmeyr This shot was taken in Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe, in November 2017. Heavy rains a few weeks before our arrival had resulted in a lot of new growth, so the forest was thick and green. The Elephant's name is Fred Astaire and he is one of the few elephants who stand on their hind legs to reach the leaves and seed pods in the canopy. He is easily recognisable by his tracking collar and the distinctive markings on his back.
