Sunrise drinks by Prof Gert Lamprecht I captured the scene at about 6 in the morning at the Sitzas Waterhole, near the Mata-Mata camp, in the Kgalgadi Trans Frontier Park. The rising sun through dust in the air as well as the dark Camel thorn trees formed an ideal backdrop. It requires perfect timing as well as some luck to capture the familiar water pattern when the Giraffe lifts its head from the water. A backlit scene is almost imperative to obtain the atmosphere of this image.
