The story of the dolphin and the whale by Martijn Schouten When humpback whales migrate past the coast of South Africa on their way to Mozambique they are normally in a rush to get to their destination and not playful at all, yet sometimes you get a youngster that's not shy to play for a bit and circle the boat. On this occasion I was very lucky that there was a small pod of Bottlenose dolphins that played with the whale. Here you can see one of the smaller bottlenose dolphins and an estimated 2/3-year-old humpback having some playtime! Photographed this scene off the coast of port St Johns, on the wild coast of South Africa.
