Highly commended – Sad ending – While visiting my parents house in Seaview, Port Elizabeth. My aunt told me about a whale that had washed up not too far from there. The drone was sent out late that afternoon and the first thing you noticed were the traps and rope entangled around the humpback's tale. When the drone got closer you could see a few seagulls feeding on the whale. There are several bite marks taken out of it and they seem too big to be a white shark’s, but could possibly be orcas? I'm no expert but my gut feeling is that the fishing gear hampered the humpback and tired the poor whale out, especially with bricks weighting down the traps. The whale became vulnerable and fell victim to an orca attack. - By Kevin Rhys Clark, Port Elizabeth DJI Mavic Pro Platinum Drone, f/2,2, ISO 200, 1/120sec
