Getaway Gallery is a prestigious showcase of the best photographs our readers have to offer. We have exciting prizes to be won this year worth over R140,000 – from equipment through to a dream trip to Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, a private paradise in Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago. Finalist – Candid Camera – I hid my camera and tripod on the elephant footpath near the Khwai River in Botswana, and planned to trigger it remotely from a safe distance. The result, after many failed shots and hours of waiting, was this picture of an old elephant bull taken from a totally different perspective. Moments later, he gently picked up my expensive camera, examined it and tossed it into a nearby bush.
