Volunteer at Cape Town’s TEARS animal shelter for Mandela Day Posted by Taylah Strauss on 11 July 2022 We love our pets, and many pet-owners travel with their cats or dogs too. They’re family. So this year, make a difference in the lives of rescue animals by spending 67 minutes volunteering at Cape Town’s The Emma Animal Rescue Society (TEARS) for Mandela Day. The volunteer opportunity runs from 16-18 July, giving those who might have to work on Monday, 18 July the chance to still do their bit over the weekend. Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, TEARS was unable to host many volunteer projects, including Mandela Day events. Now, after a two-year hiatus, TEARS has put together a few projects for you to dedicate your 67 minutes to. Some of the projects include painting, kennel revamps and general DIY upkeep at the facility. ‘We are so excited for you to join us this Mandela Day and help us make the TEARS Shelters the best that they can be. A happy shelter makes for happy pets – and helps them get adopted quicker,’ said TEARS in a statement. If you are unable to volunteer, you can still help the animals in need by visiting the TEARS shop or by donating.
