VIDEO: Leopard stealthily stalks and snatches steenbok Posted on 16 November 2020 Leopards are opportunist hunters and won’t skip out on a meal if the odds are in their favour. Latest Sightings recently shared a video of a sleeping leopard waking up to feast on a steenbok browsing below its branch. The sighting was filmed on the Ngobeni loop, off the H14, between Mopani and Phalaborwa by Mikhail Messaris. The male leopard was initially catching an afternoon snooze before the unsuspecting buck became his target. From the tree branch, the leopard cased out his prey and began preparing his aerial attack. He pauses to position himself for the perfect pounce. He dives from the tree, impala in the background scuttle off and the leopard comes back into view with his prize. The footage ends with him in another tree with his catch. Watch below for the incredible sighting.
