Hyena narrowly escapes lion’s claws of death Posted by Taylah Strauss on 9 June 2022 Lions and hyenas clash for a number of reasons. Hyenas are opportunists, bold ones at that, and will sometimes attempt to steal a kill from lions. Lions will do the same, also sometimes scavenging from other predators such as hyenas or cheetahs, according to National Geographic. Lions may also attack a hyena that is a danger to their young, as hyenas will kill lion cubs given the chance. Most of the time it’s a numbers game; an entire clan of hyena may intimidate and injure a lone male lion, but in a one-on-one encounter, a fully grown male lion has more than the upper hand, clearly seen in this video below from LatestSightings.
