Dolphins seen chasing great white away near Plettenberg coast Posted by David Henning on 10 October 2022 Drone footage of dolphins ushering a great white shark away from the shore in Plettenberg Bay has emerged on social media. This video has surfaced in the wake of a woman losing her life to a great white shark in an incident on 25 September. In the video, the dolphins can be seen chasing the shark away. This is likely because the dolphins see the great white as a threat or as competition for resources. In July, another drone video of orcas hunting a great white shark circulated on social media near Mossel Bay, just a few hours from Plettenberg Bay. There surely is a lot of activity off of South Africa’s coast, and a lot more for marine biologists to unpack.
