10 of our favourite jaw-dropping wildlife sightings Posted by Anita Froneman on 30 March 2022 When we can’t go on safari, we live vicariously through those who can. Thank goodness for social media, and the good souls willing to share footage of their wildlife sightings online. Some people are just at the right place at the right time. That, or they’re at what they hope is the right place and they are very, very patient. Here is a roundup of 10 of the most jaw-dropping sightings we’ve seen in a long time, shared on our site over the past months. Whether you missed it, or just want to watch it again, here they are. 10. A young caracal in Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden This beautiful youngster was spotted in the garden by the Urban Caracal Project. WATCH HERE. 9. Elephant gives birth to twins in Kenya Twins are extremely rare for elephants. WATCH HERE. 8. Himalayan tahrs on Table Mountain These animals thrive on steep, rocky mountains and are known to display magnificent climbing and jumping skills. WATCH HERE. 7. Five cheetah cubs in Rietvlei Nature Reserve Njozi, a female cheetah and her playful cubs casually strolled around the cars. WATCH HERE. 6. Fantastic caracal sighting on Intaka Island in Cape Town Century City is an unusual spot for caracals. LOOK HERE. 5. Rare albino honey badger at Western Cape nature reserve The honey badger was seen on a camera trap at the De Hoop Nature Reserve. LOOK HERE. 4. Unlucky octopus becomes Cape fur seal’s lunch A Cape fur seal was spotted devouring an octopus 200m out from the Blouberg rock pools in March. LOOK HERE. 3. Lion surprises couple in Kgalagadi campsite during marriage proposal Seconds after popping the question and she said yes, a lion casually sauntered into their campsite. WATCH HERE. 2. Crocodile takes on honey badger in Kruger National Park A hair-raising showdown between a crocodile and a honey badger in Kruger National Park. LOOK HERE. 1.
