Crazy footage: inside the mind of a wingsuit jumper Posted on 7 August 2014 Everyone loves some crazy wingsuit video, right? Beautiful landscapes, exhilarating speeds and – best of all – your only dalliance with death is from spending too many hours sitting at a desk. (More desktop adventure? Check out these daredevils surfing in the Arctic circle). Espen Fadnes – wingsuit loon. Photo from “Split of a Second.” We’ve featured some pretty ridiculous wingsuit stunts on the Getaway blog – this lunatic wingsuit-jumper flying through a batcave is a top contender – and are very happy to welcome Espen Fadnes to our madhouse. Watch the winner of last year’s World Wingsuit Race flying down a mountain-slope with his face practically skimming the rocks, and (minutes later) say, “Personally, I don’t think I’m taking any unnecessary risks at all.” It will probably be the most perplexing moment of your week. It’s exquisitely shot, from the mist swirling around the mountains to the minute details of the suit, and the look inside Fadnes’ childhood and mindset will either make you identify with him, or convince you further that he’s just missing the “good sense” instinct that most mammals are born with. Say what you like, though – the man has pimping taste in sunglasses. SPLIT OF A SECOND from Goovinn on Vimeo.
