A large pod of orcas spotted off the coast of Plettenberg Bay Posted on 25 March 2023 Ocean Safaris, a boat tour agency, posted footage of a pod of about 16 orcas roaming the Plettenberg Bay coastline. They shared on Facebook how amazing the sighting was as ‘it is one of the biggest pods roaming our beautiful coastline.’ The company has already seen orcas four times this year. Plett Tourism reported that there are only about five sightings a year in Plettenberg Bay and they are most commonly seen between mid-May to February. Although some social media users shared how ‘awesome’ they think the sighting was, others are concerned about continued attacks on sharks along the Western Cape coastline.
