Woman in critical condition after hippo attack in St Lucia Posted by Jordyn Johnson on 20 October 2022 A woman from Ballito was attacked by a hippo on 19 October while on holiday with her family in St Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal, reports IOL. She and her two children were walking back to their accommodation from a swimming pool during the evening when they came across a female hippo and her calf. In an attempt to protect her calf, the hippo attacked the woman, who is said to be in her 50s. She has been airlifted to the hospital and is in critical condition. Her two children were unharmed in the incident.
