UK Home office warns of serious disruptions as border officials go on strike Posted by David Henning on 27 January 2023 The British Home Office and Border Force have issued a statement warning travellers to prepare themselves for serious disruptions as border force workers plan to strike on 1 February. Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union, which includes Border Force staff, previously waked out over the Christmas period and are now set to take part in what the PCS is calling the ‘largest civil service strike for years,’ Euronews reported. International arrivals at all UK airports are expected to be impacted, along with border controls at Calais, Dunkirk and Coquelles in northern France. Since Brexit, British nationals have had to face stricter border checks when travelling to continental Europe, where checks are performed at Dover on the English side of the channel by French staff.
