U.S. Embassy warns of possible terrorist attack in Sandton this weekend Posted by Olerato Ramafsi on 27 October 2022 The U.S. Embassy has received information that terrorists may be planning to conduct an attack – targeting large gatherings of people in the Sandton area, According to their official website. The report did not specify the exact location, but has issued a warning for the weekend of 29-30 October. L2D which partly owns Sandton City said in a statement that ‘the safety of all our shoppers, tenants, service providers and stakeholders is of paramount importance.’ There is no further information regarding the method, intention, or target of the attack which puts everyone at risk. As we all know, month end is payday for most South Africans which means many people will be out in numbers for their monthly shopping. The public is advised to be aware of their surroundings and take extra precautions when travelling in areas with large quantities of people.
