At the scene, the NSRI found two adult females, who were picked up by the rescue craft. CPR was started immediately. The women were taken to the NSRI rescue station, where paramedics continued performing CPR. Unfortunately, all efforts to resuscitate them were exhausted, and they were declared dead by the paramedics. The deceased were two sisters, aged 60 and 62, from Ceres; they were the mother and aunt of former Springbok rugby player Breyton Paulse. Paulse confirmed the incident, stating that ‘it is very sad. Pray for me and my family.’ ALSO READ Great white shark killed by orca beached in Gansbaai .
