Tsogo Sun to take over Mount Grace in Magaliesburg Posted on 21 June 2020 Tsogo Sun has announced that it will be taking over the three hotels that are being let go by Marriott International. Tsogo Sun is a proprietor of Marriot International. With the recent announcement by President Ramaphosa of a relaxation of lock down regulations several of the Tsogo Sun hotels have opened, but are operating on limited capacity and will remain so until demand patterns and flight activities in both the domestic and international markets begin to normalise. Tsogo Sun has announced that it will continue to plan for a phased reactivation of properties, with the full portfolio expected to be open within 12 to 18 months and will now include three new iconic properties in its planning. Tsogo Sun Hotels via its subsidiary Hospitality Property Fund owns a controlling stake in the three hotel properties which Marriott is terminating its relationship with. The hotel group has full faith in these properties viability post the COVID-19 pandemic and are delighted that to bring them under the Tsogo management portfolio. The three hotel properties which will be added to the Tsogo management portfolio include the The Mount Grace in Magaliesburg, The Edward, located on the Durban beach front, and Hazyview, located on the doorstep of the Kruger National Park. In the short term, Tsogo Sun is working with Marriott and has mobilised resources to ensure the properties are handed over, secured and maintained while they remain closed.
