Video: TreadRight celebrates 10 years of making travel matter Posted on 1 October 2018 Tags:Africa, india, Middle East, The Travel Corporation, The TreadRight Foundation The TreadRight Foundation is making an effort to protect the planet, wildlife and people for future generations. ‘Travel is an incredible gift. It has the ability to open our eyes to the unique cultures and spellbinding beauty of the natural world. But with this gift comes a responsibility – to protect the world as we know it’, states this non-profit organisation. To mark its 10th anniversary of making travel matter and supporting more than 50 sustainable tourism projects, the foundation posted this uplifting video on World Tourism Day. South Africa, India and Jordan are just a few countries that have been positively impacted. The Foundation forms part of The Travel Corporation (TTC) and was Born from TTC Chief Executive Brett Tollman’s vision to make travel matter. It encourages sustainable tourism through leadership, support for communities and conservation and one of TreadRight’s recent social responsibility initiatives is an e-documents program in partnership with One Tree Planted (a leading not-for-profit focused on global reforestation). Every time a TTC guest chooses to receive e-documents rather than printed materials, One Tree Planted will plant a tree in a destination of their choosing. So far, this initiative has seen more than 20,000 trees planted. TreadRight is also working with TTC to focus on eliminateing all avoidable single-use plastics across its operations by 2022. More than 60 types of single-use plastic items such as straws, coffee stirrers, water bottles, plastic bags, and cutlery have already been banned from TTC’s more than 30 offices around the world. “We’ve learned a great deal through our first decade, with one key takeaway from 10 years of sustainability projects being the need to lead by example. TTC’s devotion to their sustainability journey has allowed them to do exactly that,” says Shannon Guihan, Program Director, The TreadRight Foundation. “The TTC family of brands has been an ardent supporter and advocate for our work. We know this past decade is only the beginning of an incredibly important shared endeavour; to make travel matter.” Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
