Travel company connects global audience with small-business owners Posted on 7 December 2020 Many small-business enterprises were hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdowns in various countries across the world. This has led to many businesses closing down completely, but Intrepid Travel is doing its part to ensure entrepreneurs are still able to flourish despite the financial devastation caused by the virus. Intrepid Travel, the world’s largest small-group adventure company, is now piloting two online shopping experiences to promote and empower small businesses. These experiences are being pushed online to help business owners reach audiences they would otherwise not have access to. Clients will be able to interact with local artisans from Marrakesh, Morocco, and have products shipped directly to their doors. The Marrakesh spice and wellness experience will launch on Tuesday, 8 December, and will focus on Koutoubia Herbal, a small shop located in Medina. Shoppers will be introduced to locally-made Argan-based skincare products, as well as perfumes, Hamam and spa products. Shoppers will also be able to purchase herbs and spices. A traditional Moroccan Berber rug experience will be launched on Wednesday, 8 December. This will allow shoppers to purchase items from a shop called Dar Mejbar, where the rugs are sourced from different tribes from all over Morocco and handmade by the tribeswomen. Both launches will also take shoppers on a virtual tour of AlNour, a social enterprise that offers artisan skills training programs and childcare for disabled women to help them achieve a sustainable livelihood. The proceeds from all purchases will go directly to NGOs, local guides and artisans. Further information can be found here.
