Three suspected abalone poachers apprehended in Cape Town Posted by Taylah Strauss on 20 December 2021 Sea, Air and Mountain Special Operations (SEAM) Rangers together with the recently deployed airbus H125 have conducted a series of anti-poaching and anti-crime operations since December 12. For the past week, SEAM Operations Rangers have been working in the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park to fight abalone poaching, which has taken a spike recently. Three poachers were subsequently apprehended after being found in possession of illegal abalone and diving gear yesterday, December 19. All of these items were sent off the South African Police Service, and a case is being opened in Simon’s Town. In a statement, park manager Frans van Rooyen has congratulated SEAM and other parties involved for another successful operation and asserted that SEAM will continue to operate in various locations for visible policing during the festive season.
