If you’re a fan of trains and railways, this railway line will be a treat for you! The Rovos Rail, termed ‘Africa’s most luxurious train journey’ by Conde Nast Traveller, offers a world-class travel experience through parts of Southern Africa.

The railway line offers ‘journeys lasting from 48 hours to 14 nights’ and links some of the continent’s greatest destinations with a variety of off-train excursions.’ The Rovos Rail ‘harks back to a simpler, more elegant era encompassing the timeless grace and high romance of African exploration.’

The railway line boasts spectacular views of southern Africa’s mountain ranges and desert scenery, bespoke train journeys, and professional service. However, what makes the Rovos Rail ‘one of the most impressive in the world,’ according to Travel News, is its dining offering.

Their four-course dinners rival top Michelin-starred restaurants and a selection of South African wines. Their regional dishes are made using local ingredients and their meals include springbok loin, Karoo crumble, Amarula parfait, and koeksisters.

Conde Nast explains that the varied menu is all about spotlighting the continent’s culinary traditions and gastronomic excellence.
