The petrol price is going down, but diesel will cost more Posted by Anita Froneman on 3 May 2022 Motorists were glad when Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe announced a drop of 12 cents per litre in the price of petrol. However, the price of diesel will increase sharply (a 92 cents-increase per litre on 50ppm and a 98 cents on 500ppm). According to IOL, the reason for this is the ‘lower [diesel] exports from Russia’. The new fuel prices are as follows (as of 4 May): Inland: Petrol 93 octane: R21.51per litre Petrol 95 octane: R21.84 per litre Diesel: R21.93 per litre Coastal: Petrol 93 octane: R20.99 per litre Petrol 95 octane: R21.12 per litre Diesel: R21.31 per litre Picture: Unsplash ALSO READ Did you see Cape Town’s giant squid?
