According to TAT governor, Yuthasak Supasorn, the plan is to reopen Thailand in stages had been approved and Phuket will be the pilot destination. From April 1, foreign travellers vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed into Phuket but only under the condition that they stay in quarantine for the first seven days of their trip. From July 1, foreign travellers may visit Phuket without quarantining, but for both of these stages, tourists need to provide proof that they have received two doses of vaccine recognised by the World Health Organisation. Medical certificates of a negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to departure from origin, a Certficate of Entry issued by a Thai Embassy; a valid visa or re-entry permit and a travel health insurance policy are the essential certificates you will need to get into Thailand. Upon arrival at the Phuket International Airport, tourists will have to do a COVID-19 screening, PCR tests, and download the specified track-and-trace app to ensure that they only visit the designated areas. TAT suggests that travellers and agents enquire at the Royal Thai Embassy in Pretoria for more details.
