Sweden removes testing requirements for southern African travellers

The Swedish authorities have lifted pre-testing requirements against South Africa and numerous neighbouring southern African countries, irrespective of vaccination status.

Starting January 21, travellers from South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Malawi and Zambia will no longer be required to present a negative Covid-19 test within 48 hours of arrival.

The requirement was removed on the basis that travellers from those countries are no longer considered to pose a significant threat that would escalate the spread of the Omicron variant in Sweden, according to Schengen Visa Info News.
