Sir David Attenborough receives COVID-19 vaccination Posted by Anita Froneman on 13 January 2021 World-renowned conservationist and television presenter Sir David Attenborough has received a COVID-19 vaccination on January 12. The British natural historian said the pandemic has served to remind humans that we are not above nature. ‘The virus has made us feel we are more vulnerable, and vulnerable to what is happening to the world,’ he told The Independent. ‘It has drawn attention to the fact we aren’t as omnipotent and all-controlling as we think we are.’ According to the UK’s COVID-19 vaccines delivery plan, everyone in England will be within 10 miles (16km) of a vaccination site by the end of January. Government also said there will be at least 2 million vaccinations delivered in England per week by the end of the month. Attenborough, at the age of 94, falls within the age category of those who will be vaccinated first, and encouraged others to take the vaccine when they are able. ‘I’m sufficient of a scientist still, I hope, to realise this is the thing to do.’ Attenborough’s newest docu-series, A perfect Planet will be available to watch in South Africa on February 14 on BBC Earth at 4pm.
