Singapore Airlines aims to be first fully vaccinated carrier Posted on 25 January 2021 Singapore Airlines is aiming to be the world’s first airline to have all crew vaccinated against COVID-19. The airline confirmed to CNN Travel that all their crew have been offered free vaccines from the Singaporean government. ‘We are grateful to the Singapore government for making the aviation sector a priority in the country’s vaccination exercise,’ the airline’s CEO, Goh Choon Phong, said in a statement to the company.’This reflects the sector’s importance and the crucial role we play in both Singapore’s economic recovery and the fight against the pandemic.’ Singapore has acquired the Pfizer vaccine. So far 5,200 employees have signed up for their shots. The airline said that once vaccinated, the crew will be able to lower their level of COVID-19 security, which is currently strictly followed on flights. Singapore has been relatively unaffected by the pandemic. So far the country has only seen 59,113 confirmed cases and 29 deaths. This has been mostly due to strict border closures by the government.
