Safari webcams to keep the wanderlust at bay Posted on 1 April 2020 Tags:Djuma Private Game Reserve, Greater Kruger, indoor safari, Kruger National Park, Manyeleti Private Game Reserve, Sabi Sands, safari webcams, SANParks, Tintswalo Safari Lodge With lockdown in full swing, many of us are desperate to go exploring, whether it be for a hike, a swim at the beach or a long and lazy game drive. Alas, we must abide by the rules and save the travelling for later. To help turn your daydreams into a reality, various safari lodges are operating live webcams for you to marvel over. No more loud engine sounds ruining a perfect sighting. Gone are the queues to catch a glimpse of a lion under a shady tree. Or was it a leopard? Your view is no longer blocked by a vehicle bigger than yours. Buckle up on the couch, grab your coffee and Amarula, keep your binoculars and snacks at the ready, maximise your screen and enjoy the sights and sounds you have missed so much. Tintswalo Safari Lodge Situated in the Manyeleti Game Reserve and sharing an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, Tintswalo Safari Lodge is a bush cat’s dream come true. While under lockdown, you and your family are invited to join in on the free, virtual game drives offered daily, departing at dawn. Don’t fear though, you don’t have to be awake this early to enjoy the safari. The virtual safaris are uploaded to the lodge’s Facebook page, and previous safaris have been saved, so that you can catch up with the happenings inside the reserve. The lodge also has a live webcam feed that can be viewed here. Djuma Private Game Reserve Situated within the Sabi Sands reserve on the outskirts of the Kruger National Park, lies Djuma Private Game Reserve. ‘Djuma’ means ‘roar of the lion’ in the local Shangaan vernacular. This reserve is giving viewers at home the chance to experience the bush, uninterrupted, with their live webcam. Situated overlooking the Gowrie dam, you are bound to see some action. SANParks live web cams Three of our national parks have live web cams to keep us distracted while on lockdown. Within the Kruger National Park, SANParks has three webcams. The first is at Satara, just outside of the rest camp overlooking the watering hole. At Punda Maria, there’s one mounted on the hide overlooking the camp’s neighbouring dam. Orpen‘s webcam is also just outside of the camp, overlooking the watering hole. For a change in scenery, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park has a webcam mounted at the Nossob hide, overlooking the watering hole. For those that need their fix of all things elephants, Addo Elephant National Park has a webcam at Addo’s main rest camp, situated on the hide overlooking the local watering hole. To access the webcams, visit the SANParks website or keep updated with the many incredible sightings on the SANParks Webcams Facebook page.
