Photographer captures incredible lightning storm over Joburg Posted on 29 November 2020 Johannesburg is well-known for its incredible lightning storms and capturing them is an art. South African photographer Christo Smith captured the sky in all its lit up glory, as forks of lighting struck over the City of Gold on Friday, November 27. Smith said he rushed to the roof of the Bellaires Centre in Northriding to take the shot as the storm rolled over the city. “I then tried to shoot the lightning but the rain and hail stopped me quite quickly,” he said in a Facebook post. “I then shot some of the storm through a door way but as soon as the rain softened a bit, I managed to get this shot…” What a storm tonight.
