Passenger opens Asiana Airlines plane door as it lands Posted by Jordyn Johnson on 27 May 2023 As an Asiana Airlines flight landed in South Korea, one of its passengers opened the plane door. A video of the incident was shared on social media of the male passenger opening the emergency door while the plane was still 250 m above ground. Flight attendants were unable to stop him as the plane was about to land. Witnesses recount that the man also tried to jump from the aircraft after opening the door. Yonhap News Agency reported one passenger as saying, ‘It was chaos with people close to the door appearing to faint one by one and flight attendants calling out for doctors on board through broadcasting. ‘I thought the plane was blowing up. I thought I was going to die like this.’ The plane landed safely at Daegu International Airport on Friday, 26 May. None of the 194 passengers were injured or hurt. However, the BBC reported that some passengers fainted while others suffered breathing problems and were transported to hospital. The 30-year-old passenger told police that he ‘had been under a lot of stress after losing his job recently.’ On the plane he felt suffocated and needed to get off the aircraft quickly, reported Yonhap News Agency. He was detained and questioned immediately after the flight. Police plan on requesting an arrest warrant for the man’s alleged violations of aviation security laws.
