The Paris 2024 Olympic logo: human or dating app? Posted on 23 October 2019 Tags:2024 Olympics, Olympics The Paris 2024 Olympic logo has been unveiled and the world has collectively lost its marbles. The emblem is supposed to represent Marianne, the personification of France. Instead, people think that it looks like all sorts of other things. ‘Her face is also a homage to female athletes and a nod to history, as it was in 1900 at the Olympic Games in Paris that women were first allowed to compete,’ said the Olympic organisers referring to Marianne. Marianne, a symbol of liberty and of the Goddess of Liberty, has been used to portray France since the 1789 French Revolution. Hence the lips and hairstyle. Some are saying the logo resembles Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) from the hit tv sitcom Friends, while others say it looks like a copy of Tinder’s logo. While the sentiment is great, the concept was a bit of a hit and miss. Of course, people on social media couldn’t resist the chance to rip the logo apart.
