Palace of Versailles to host a rave Posted on 29 March 2019 Tags:Palace of Versailles Although there were bound to have been some raucous parties there in the height of its existence, the Palace of Versailles – built by King Louis XIV, the Sun King – is today associated with historical tours that reference art, history and architecture. The 8km2 estate in Versailles is home to the opulent palace, which was the royal residence from 1682 until the French Revolution in 1789, with rooms like the famous Hall of Mirrors, the grand apartments of the king and those of the queen. The meticulously-manicured grounds include musical fountain shows and the Musical Gardens. Far from the traditional, classic music that visitors can usually hear as they stroll through the gardens, for the first time ever electronic rave music will resonate across the palace grounds. It will be hosted by four DJs – Busy P, Breakbot x Irfane, Myd, and So Me – and will take place on 8 June. According to event organisers, “this timeless evening is part of the Versailles tradition of the first festivals of the Sun King’s time and also echoes Versailles, cradle of French electro.” Interior of Palace of Versailles.
