OR Tambo experiences 41 flight delays after fuel supply valve breaks Posted by Jordyn Johnson on 29 December 2022 OR Tambo International Airport had 41 flight delays on Wednesday, 28 December, after ‘there was a challenge with refueling of aircrafts.’ The technical issue included the main supply valve that’s used to supply fuel to the airplanes being unable to open. Being unable to fuel the planes, the airport used a tanker to fuel each aircraft manually. This mode of refueling takes much longer and subsequently causes many delays. ACSA states that ‘technicians are onsite and have resolved the issue. They are constantly monitoring the situation.’ With delays of 38 domestic flights, eight international flights, and one regional flight, OR Tambo is working on clearing the backlog.
