Only certain SANParks are open Posted on 2 June 2020 Golden Gate Highlands, parts of Garden Route and Table Mountain National Park with the exception of certain areas are open to visitors under Level 3 lockdown. In a statement SANParks said, ‘only its open-access national parks will allow access to visitors from Monday, 1 June 2020.’ Table Mountain National Park announced that despite majority of the park being open, under Level 3 certain areas which usually draw a lot of visitors are not. There include: – Boulders Beach – Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope) – Silvermine Gate 1 and 2 – Upper Tokai – All picnic sites The National Park authority also emphasised the importance of wearing a mask and adhering to all social distancing measures of 1.5m. Hikers are allowed back under Level 3 but no overnight hikes are permitted. Read: Hikers allowed on open-access national parks during Level 3. ‘As per alert level 3 lockdown regulations, you are permitted to exercise between 06:00am and 18:00pm and Table Mountain management humbly request adhere to this very important lockdown regulation. In a Facebook post SANParks Garden Route said: ‘Other hiking trails will open next Monday. This is the only area open in the Garden Route National Park at the moment. More information will be provided regarding boat and vessel permits during the course of lockdown level 3.’ Llandudno Ravine is one of the many recognised routes up to Table Mountain.
