New hotel in Stellenbosch to open top-tier rooftop lounge Posted by Anita Froneman on 13 September 2021 Stellenbosch has welcomed a brand new hotel in town. Chic and upmarket, Hotel Krige features a stunning rooftop lounge for in-house guests that will be complete in time for summer, the perfect place to sip on world class wine or ice cold beers as the sun sets after a balmy day in the Boland. Offering 24 apartment-style bedrooms, Hotel Krige offers guests all the modern trimmings. The hotel is located on Krige Street in the town’s historic quarter, within walking distance to many of the boutiques, wine bars and restaurants that Stellenbosch is famous for. Kyle Leonard, Hotel Krige’s General Manager, explains that the hotel will focus strongly on supporting local products. “We are currently stocking the hotel’s wine cellar with a variety of wines from the Stellenbosch region and surrounds and believe strongly in the responsible travel principles of offering locally produced wines which are grown on the beautiful hills and valleys that surround our town.” Kyle is also passionate about craft beer and is a member of the Helderberg Home Brewers society. He plans to introduce a range of locally brewed beers to Hotel Krige’s beverage offering soon, so the rooftop promises to be a vibey hangout offering not only a space to enjoy interesting and quality local drinks but exceptional views of the surrounding mountains too. The rooftop lounge is not open just yet but the hotel is open for business and eager to welcome locals and travellers alike. Visit their website here.
