Musina’s new road diverting Zimbabwe-bound traffic well underway Posted by Anita Froneman on 23 November 2021 The new ring road that will hopefully alleviate traffic congestion in the Limpopo town of Musina, is well underway and Raubex, the construction company as well as SANRAL are confident they will reach the completion date in 2022. The R640-million project started in December 2019, and will divert traffic around the town instead of through it and aims to reduce travel time to Zimbabwe’s Beitbridge border post. According to Raubex, the project involves the following: construction of three major bridges; construction of two interchanges (including on and off ramps); major earthworks (including large cuttings and fills); layer works and asphalt surfacing; 6 km of secondary roads; stormwater and subsoil drains; road furniture finishes (such as guard rails, road signs, and fences); and noise barrier walls Picture: Raubex Picture: Raubex ‘Other elements of the project include the construction of 30 new houses for the relocation of residents displaced by the project, added Raubex.
