Mother “forgets” baby at airport Posted on 14 March 2019 A plane was forced to return to its gate after a mother realized she had forgotten her baby at the terminal of an airport located in Saudi Arabia. The flight, reportedly travelling from Jeddah to Kuala Lumpur last Sunday, had to return after the mother informed the cabin crew that she had mistakenly left her baby in the boarding area of the airport terminal at King Abdul Aziz International Airport. Airport authorities were left baffled as they began establishing the protocol for such a unique scenario. Airplanes, however, are cleared to return to airport in case of a major emergency, and as a results, there are protocols in place to deal with such situations. “This flight is requesting to come back, a passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing. May God be with us. Can we come back or what?”, the pilot can be heard saying to air traffic controller in a video which has since gone viral. After the operator clears the flight to return, they can be heard exclaiming: “Ok, head back to the gate. This is totally a new one for us!” While the mother was reunited with her baby upon the flight’s return, there is no further information available on the two. After the story broke, popular Cape Town radio station, KFM, had mothers call in to share a few of their “bad mummy” travel stories: “I had an incident with my eldest daughter when she was about 4, she was with a day mother on the premises where I worked, I was on the train going home when I realised that I had forgotten to pick her up,” one caller said. “I was with my ladies on a weekend away with the kids on a farm, and we drove into town which was about a fifteen-minute drive away. We had two vehicles and when we all got out of the cars, I realised I left my three-year-old at the farm,” another caller said.
