Mauritius to see increase in flights from South Africa Posted by Taylah Strauss on 21 July 2022 Since international borders opened up, Mauritius has seen a surge in tourism, particularly from South Africa. Visitors to the archipelago during April and May of 2022 exceeded pre-pandemic numbers, according to BusinessTech. Several airlines have doubled up on flights between South Africa and Mauritius to keep up with demand. South African Airways (SAA) recently confirmed it would be adding more flights to its route. FlySafair launched two extra weekly flights between Johannesburg and Mauritius earlier this year and has applied for more frequent flights. Air Mauritius also aims to add additional flights from October. The airline also announced it will be re-launching direct flights between Mauritius and Cape Town, starting 16 November 2022.
