Mauritius lifts travel ban for vaccinated South Africans Posted by David Henning on 13 September 2021 Mauritius lifted its ban on South African travellers over the weekend, with fully vaccinated visitors able to explore the island without having to undergo a mandatory 15-day quarantine from 1 October. The island nations director of the Tourism Promotion Authority told IOL that South Africa remained a ‘proximity and priority market’ for the destination’s tourism. ‘From October 1, fully vaccinated travellers from South Africa will be allowed to stay at any hotel, resort or accommodation of their choice and move freely around the island. Unvaccinated travellers will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine in a state-designated quarantine facility,’ Bundhun said. To enters, vaccinated travellers need to present a negative PCR test taken less than 72 hours before their departure. Unvaccinated travellers will still have to book a quarantine stay and present a negative PCR test upon arrival as well.
