Mango’s flight sales to reopen soon Posted by Anita Froneman on 4 May 2021 Mango Airlines has stated they are operating as per normal, and are not grounded as previously expected. The Flight Centre Travel Group issued a statement advising their customers who have bookings with the airline to book alternative flights, as they had not received communication from Mango at the time. However, they have since retracted the statement after receiving the following information from Mango: ‘We are excited to inform you that despite a lot of speculation and uncertainty during this past week, Mango Airlines continues to operate as normal tomorrow, Saturday 1 May 2021 and beyond, except for Zanzibar at this stage. ‘We will update the public sometime next on this route. Also, please continue to check our website as sales would be opened soon.’ Last month, communication was sent out to travel agencies and tour operators outlining the operational challenges the airline is facing. These challenges are said to have been caused by a string of broken promises relating to the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) for Mango, the airline said in a statement on April 22.
