Man dies after shark encounter in Plettenberg Bay Posted by Ilhaam Hoosain on 29 June 2022 A Plettenberg Bay man died from fatal injuries sustained after an encounter with a shark on 28 June. The crew from the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) received reports about a shark encounter at Sanctuary Beach, and the swimmer’s body was recovered at the back surf line. Counselling is being provided to the family of the man and the Bitou Municipality has closed beaches in the Plettenberg Bay area.
