Luxury floating resort scheduled to open on the Dubai Marina Posted on 24 November 2020 Dubai is home to some of the world’s most lavish and extravagant buildings and hotels. From the colossal JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, which holds the record as Dubai’s largest hotel, to the iconic 828 metre high Burj Khalifa. Now, it looks as though Dubai will soon feature another unique structure in the form of a new floating resort near the Dubai Marina. The floating resort, which will be called the ‘Sea Palace’ is currently being developed by Emirati ship-building company, Seagate Shipyard. Once complete, the Sea Palace will feature a luxury hotel surrounded by six detachable floating houses, each called ‘NEPTUNE’, which are capable of setting sail on their own, according to Lonely Planet. Each of the floating houses will include self-sterilising air filters, garbage recycling systems, solar energy panels, and be operated via an automatic smart system. The design and architecture were inspired by glass-bottom boats, with each floating home having its own see-through floors. Seagate Shipyard says that the project is already 65% complete and that the NEPTUNE floating homes are in the final stages of constriction. ‘I believe this type of project will create a boom in the tourism field’, said Mohammed El Bhawravi, the founder of Seagate Shipyard and project owner.
