Lufthansa Technik suspended as Comair saga continues Posted by Anita Froneman on 24 March 2022 The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) has suspended Lufthansa Technik, one of the Aircraft Maintenance Organisations (AMO) that maintained Comair’s aircraft, until further notice. The suspension follows a four-day audit ‘following a spate of incidents taking place from February 2022’, the Authority said. ‘The audit resulted in four Level 1 findings raised with the AMO. A Level 1 finding poses an immediate risk to users of civil aviation services and such findings must be closed immediately,’ the statement continued. The Operator can appeal the suspension. On Monday, Comair announced that it has appointed SAA Technical (SAAT) to take over the sole line maintenance of its aircraft. Lufthansa Technik passed a routine SACAA audit in February of this year, Comair said.
