Lufthansa strike affects flights to South Africa

This has added to the chaos seen at European airports, with multiple staff shortages and strikes. Lufthansa announced on 26 July that it would cancel its entire flight program.

Flights from the airline’s headquarters in Frankfurt and Munich were cancelled. ‘This means no flights on Wednesday, July 27 for Johannesburg and Cape Town,’ Lufthansa Group’s Media Spokesperson, Boris Ogursky, told Travel News.

The strikes are scheduled to last 26 hours, with the airline stating that it would inform passengers and rebook alternative flights if possible.

Eurowings Discover flights to Windhoek are still continuing to operate, despite the strike.
