Lion on the loose outside Ulundi near to Hluhluwe Imfolozi Posted by David Henning on 2 September 2022 Footage has emerged of a lion alongside the P700 road outside Ulundi in KwaZulu Natal (KZN), where locals have increasingly become frustrated with escaping wildlife from the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park. The lion was spotted just a week after the KZN portfolio committee on conservation and environmental affairs met with the community to address to the issue of escaping wildlife and agreed to fix the broken fence surrounding the park. The community has expressed great frustration with escaping wildlife, with some saying they are fearing for their lives, especially after a woman was injured after a close encounter with an escaped rhino. A pride of six lions were also put down after a community dispute, with surrounding communities outraged after they lost cattle to the lions. A male lion was spotted along the P700 road, near Ulundi, northern KZN on Wednesday. The lion is beleived to be part of a pride which escaped from Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park. Communities in the area live in fear as this is not the first time lions have escaped. @TimesLIVE pic.twitter.com/zl05rtJYDJ — Orrin Singh (@orrin417) August 31, 2022 Picture: Screenshot ALSO READ: Global organisation and tourist companies call on SA to end trophy hunting Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
