KZN punts for more direct flights at World Travel Market Africa Posted on 4 April 2023 The World Travel Market (WTM) Africa, which began on 3 April at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, is an exclusive event that brings together 6000 global travel industry professionals. It focuses on the opportunities and issues that will drive commercial success for the African travel industry. WTM Africa plays a vital role in selling and packaging destinations across the globe. Picture: Supplied Tourism KZN (TKZN) is using this opportunity to ‘ensure the province is included on international travel itineraries.’ Exhibiting alongside Durban Direct, TKZN is currently lobbying for more direct flights to KZN and Isimangaliso Wetland Park. Air access and connectivity to KZN are at the centre of the Province’s Recovery Strategy and are high on TKZN’s agenda at the WTMA. The easier it is to access a region the more people are likely to visit it. TKZN is also promoting outstanding KZN tourism products like the Drakensberg’s Dragon View Lodge, the Midlands’ Fordoun Hotel and Spa, and Shayamanzi House Boats Jozini to showcase KZN’s many diverse and exciting destinations. ‘It is important for us to ensure that we provide market access opportunities for smaller and emerging tourism entrepreneurs, and events like WTM Africa serve as a platform where our Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) can engage with international buyers to secure deals that help them grow their businesses,’ said Radebe.
