Kulula airways to reopen flights in December Posted on 6 November 2020 Kulula announced it will begin flights again from December 1, and Discovery Vitality members are getting a chance to book first. Non-Discovery Vitality members will also be able to purchase online tickets but only from December 1 onwards. ‘As a Discovery Vitality member, you can now take advantage of your exclusive early access by logging in first to book with us for when we take to the skies again on 1 December 2020.’ Kulula wrote on its website. Kulula, which is owned by Comair, initially suspended its flights in March due to the COVID-19 hard lockdown, leading to Comair voluntarily entering into business rescue in May. ‘We knew the business rescue process wasn’t going to be easy. However, when the lockdown grounded us and we weren’t able to earn any revenue, it was the only way to save the company and most of the jobs,’ Comair CEO Wrenelle Stander said. Kulula will now officially open for new domestic bookings through its website for the general public on Monday, November 9 2020. Flights will be available for sale via its Contact Centres and official website. Comair will be operating under a limited flight schedule in December, with all Kulula domestic routes operational with the exception of Durban – Cape Town and the Lanseria routes. Anyone who has booked a flight to either depart from or arrive at Lanseria International Airport, will be re-accommodated on a flight out or into O.R. Tambo International Airport, at a time, nearest to their original departure time. ‘Customers who booked prior to 5 May 2020 for travel with Comair in December and who are affected by the new schedule will be re-accommodated and advised accordingly.’ Kulula explained on its website.
