Kruger’s Phalaborwa Gate closed today due to GBV protests Posted by Anita Froneman on 27 May 2022 Kruger National Park management said there is likely to be an organised ‘shutdown’ of Phalaborwa by locals on 27 May. As a result, guests and staff planning to travel to and from Kruger National Park through the Phalaborwa Gate are advised to use alternative gates. Picture: Scott Ramsay ‘The shutdown follows a series of gender-based violence (GBV) related incidents in the community,’ SANParks said. Residents reportedly plan to march to police stations in protest. More information and updates will be posted when available.
