Kruger visitors urged to stay on designated paths

Following a recent incident, the Kruger National Park’s management is urging visitors to adhere to the Park’s rules and regulations, or else face a fine or even a ban.

An incident involved several motorists driving off the road and into the veld to get a closer look at a leopard dragging its kill under a bush.

‘You are not allowed to drive “off-road” or on roads with a “no entry” sign,’ the Park’s rules clearly state.

Visitors to the Park are not allowed to veer off the designated roads.

Not only does disregarding the rules put human lives at danger, but it also interferes with the wildlife and can damage the environment.

Other rules visitors tend to disobey are the speed limits, or getting out of their vehicles.

According to The Lowvelder, visitors who disobey the rules can be fined up to R2,000 or can be banned from visiting the Kruger in future. Visitors who witness incidents of rule breaking should get as many details as possible and report them to management.

Witnesses should take pictures where possible, and try to get the vehicle registration/licence plate and remember to record the area, time and date etc. This will help management to act in the correct and appropriate ways.
