Kruger picnic spot gets extensive facelift Posted by Adrian Brown on 22 November 2018 Taking a much-needed rest under shaded trees before you head out on a wildlife adventure is going to be a whole new experience now that the popular Afsaal picnic area in the Kruger National Park is undergoing a revamp. Situated at a high traffic area between the Malelane gate and Skukuza – the area will receive an extensive makeover – temporary facilities will be available until renovations are complete. Tindlovua Management Services have operated the picnic site since 2016. In a recent social media statement, Kruger Lowveld Tourism said the revamp is a three-phase project, starting with the building of the Tindlovu Express – an on-the-go eatery which will provide coffee, pies and sandwiches. Kruger Louwveld Tourism /Facebook Tindlovu Express will open mid-December. When the second phase is complete, there will be a restaurant which will include a children’s play area and treehouse. Kruger Louwveld Tourism /Facebook Kruger Louwveld Tourism said the second phase is expected to be completed at the start of 2019. The final phase of upgrades will include a spa offering a full range of treatments. In addition, guided walks and an overnight hike will be offered after all renovations are complete, which will be later on in 2019. Tindlovu is hoping to increase the number of visitors to the picnic spot and set a new standard in the Kruger National Park areas with the new additions and refurbishments.
