Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park: Mongoose vs mole snake Posted on 23 April 2020 Tags:Grootkolk Camp, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park On a trip to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, Mohammed Jinnah was treated to a roadside showdown. A yellow mongoose and mole snake in the throes of a fierce battle. Standing at 29 centimetres high, the yellow mongoose is a force to be reckoned with. The non-venomous mole snake, however, delivers a mean bite and is a powerful constrictor. The stage was set, and Jinnah’s camera poised. ‘We were staying at Grootkolk Camp in the Kgalagadi and went out for a morning drive. Just south of the camp we saw the mongoose and snake on the road,’ said Jinnah. ‘The snake kept its head tucked in, I think it must have known that if the mongoose [got] it by the back of the head that would be fatal. They sparred for about seven minutes after which the mongoose gave up.’ Take a look at the clash of titans below: Images: Mohammed Jinnah Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
